We are back to school in full swing and it’s that time again.  Yes, you guessed it, Picture Day!  The day you break out the checkbook, get the kiddos all dolled up, send them to school, some stranger “fixes”  their hair, and then weeks later the pictures come home.  Some of us are blessed with the best picture of our little honey that’s ever been taken…and the rest of us wonder why we even wrote a check at all!  I’m kidding (no, I’m not)!!

So what to wear, what to wear.  If you have an over-dramatic, opinionated child as I do, this is a battle you are about to lose. And does it really matter anyway? Probably not. If you have an older child, they’ll likely get it right. For those of us with the younger babes, here are a couple survival tips…

If you are not someone that gets pictures done often and this is your shot at that perfect photo for the year, I say keep it simple. Something more on the classic side and less on the trendy side may be what you’re looking for.  A button down shirt, polo, or cute top without a bunch of graphics.  If this is just another photo for the book, and you have an all out war going over what to wear…ask yourself, does it really matter? So they want to wear their favorite hoodie, or that hideous Angry Birds Tee, or maybe its the frilliest dress in the closet…I say, who cares!?  Photos are memories, and when you look back on that second grade picture you can laugh about how much they were into Monster High that year, or remember when Spiderman was their all time fave… no one really cares but us right?  The kids don’t. It’s just another day to them and at some point, someone will tell them to “Say, Cheese!”

If you’re looking for a little censor on the great picture day outfit, I do have a couple tips.  You can start by asking your child to pick out three options but YOU get to make the final decision. Or YOU pick out three options and let them choose from there. This allows both parent and child to have a little say in the matter and hopefully come out with a win-win!  I myself was fully prepared to battle with my daughter, especially after she said she knew EXACTLY what she wanted to wear (I could only imagine!)…and then she came out of her room with this…

  2. This design is wicked! You certainly know how
to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and
your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you
    presented it. Too cool!
